Why we practice sustainability.

Buckeye Corrugated views sustainability as a consistent dynamic necessary for managing a successful company and contributing to our industry’s place in global preservation.

On average, 65% of the energy used to produce paper and wood products comes from renewable biomass energy. Furthermore, our industry plants 1.7 million new trees each day, which has helped us to reduce our consumption of fossil fuels by 56% between 1972 and 2002. In 2006, the average box had 43% recycled content. In 2010, 82% of all corrugated produced was recovered for recycling.

This level of ongoing success in corrugated sustainability demonstrates our industry’s commitment to preserving the environment, reducing carbon sequestration through forest management and providing products backed by people who care.

Not only is sustainability good for the environment — it’s good for business.
